Welcome to Run For The World virtual running. We hope that you find the right motivation to begin your fitness journey or keep yourself going when you're thinking about quitting. We have a range of event styles to keep you active and pushing for more. You can set yourself single activity targets such as your first 5km, 10km or half marathon, or even set yourself a monthly goal to accumulate a certain distance. Either way, you'll be able to hit your targets if you set yourself some awesome virtual running goals!
Our philosophy is to keep as many people as possible motivated to get or stay fit and healthy. The owner of RFTW, Neil, studied Sport and Exercise Sciences at university and has always been very keen on healthy and fitness. Even Neil has had times when motivation has been low so he knows how difficult it can be to get back into a fitness routine. In fact, the reason why he started RFTW in the first place was because he found virtual events to have a huge impact on him getting back, and staying, fit and healthy.
When setting goals for a new lifestyle, or targets for ongoing fitness, getting started is the most difficult. Once those plans are made such as signing up for a couch to 5km, a big 10km, half marathon or even a full marathon event, it is key to stay focussed and never give up. Even experienced runners sometimes have thoughts of stopping from time to time so, for beginners, it can be even more difficult.
Virtual running events are a fantastic way to keep your motivation either in between 'real' events that you may have signed up for or even purely on their own. It is also a great way to get yourself off the couch at the very beginning of your journey. Running in your own time, without a big crowd of athletes potentially running a lot faster than you, is a big help to a lot of people. Building that initial confidence to get out there and run for fun is a key ingredient of success in reaching your goals.
We hope that our variety of events can give you that extra push to get outside and reach your new PB distance, time or more long term targets. We've got many styles of events to suit whatever you're looking for.
At RFTW, we are all about being inclusive of all runners whatever their ability and background. We have many different challenges and distances for those who are just beginning their running journey to those who are setting themselves larger fitness targets. Each event has various distance options for you to choose from with full leaderboards during the event showing race categories including age, sex and distance chosen.
We have many different styles of events at RFTW, which we think will help bring that extra motivation. All events will come with their own reward based on the event. Most event rewards are medals because we all love medals, don't we! However, we also offer events with different rewards such as embroidery patches, medallions, key chains, running accessories and more…
The variety of events and challenges at RFTW is what makes running with us so great. We have 'Solo' events (chose a distance to run/walk in a single activity within the event dates), 'Challenge' events (accumulate your chosen distance with runs/walks during the event dates) and 'Open' events (Solo or Challenge style but you can sign up and finish them completely in your own time). With all of these events, you'll never have an excuse not to be motivated again!
If ‘proving your run’ and ‘uploading your evidence’ gets frustrating for you when taking part in virtual runs, you'll love RTFW. We have linked Strava to the website (and will be adding Garmin and FitBit soon) so you can sync all of your activities directly. We receive your run data instantaneously without any effort from yourselves. Once you save your run on your watch/phone, as long as it is the correct distance for 'Solo' events, you will be able to see this on the website within minutes. If you don't use Strava, don't worry as we also have a manual upload system by clicking 'Add Run' on our website.
Outside of running, our goal at RFTW is to do our bit for the planet. That’s not an easy task but we will try our best. RFTW tries to be as environmentally friendly as possible. We ask all of our reward suppliers not to package with excess plastics and we make sure that any extra packaging that we do receive is recycled correctly. The padded envelopes that we send your medals out in are also recyclable so please don't throw them in your waste bins.
We also try our best to help charities. For the calendar year of 2021, we have partnered with two fantastic charities and will be sending 10% of most of our event entry fees to them (5% each). To see more about this, please visit out Charities page. Both of these charities also have their own special event in which 25% of the event entry fee will be send directly to them. We also have four other events throughout the year that will raise money for various other charities.
If you work with a charity and would like to partner with RFTW in the future, please feel free to contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know about your charity. We are always seeking new charities to work with.
